To understand the mausoleum, you must understand the man to whom it is dedicated.
Nizami
Nizami Ganjavi was born around 1141 in Ganja and lived here almost all his life, rarely leaving the city. He was widely educated — versed in the sciences, philosophy, astronomy and several languages.
Far from palaces and courtly bustle, he created poetry that brought him immortal fame.

Nizami
Nizami gave the Persian-language epic vividness, psychology and realism. His heroes are living people with passions, doubts and love.
That is why his poems have outlived the centuries and been translated into dozens of the world's languages.
